The photo “Lunchtime atop a Skyscraper” belongs to the series “Construction Workers Lunching on a Crossbeam – 1932″ by the photographer Charles C. Ebbets.
There is a monument to these guys, built in 2001 on Sixth Avenue, NYC. The inspiration for it was drawn from this very photo of Ebbets . First, the monument represented an exact copy of the photograph. But later on the worker to the far right was removed, most probably due to the fact that he was holding a bottle of whiskey, and they did not want to destroy the legend about the brave men. Now the monument has 10 quite decent guys sitting on a steel girder.
